Reflections of the Heart will be the theme for the ladies Heart to Heart conference. Our prayer for the conference is that souls will be enlightened and encouraged as we allow the Lord to search our hearts through the teachings of His Word. Our key verse is: Proverbs 4:23 Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.

The featured speaker for our 13th Heart to Heart Conference is Mrs. Gretchen Fant, wife of Pastor Fant of Harvest Baptist of Rock Hill, SC. Mrs. Fant is a trained counselor and has authored several booklets to help give good solid biblical counsel to ladies. Also, Kimberly Edwards of TruthActs Drama Ministry will present the life of Betty Stam in the drama entitled, "For Me to Live Is Christ."

A Time Remembered Tea

The "A Time Remembered Tea" held in honor of our senior saints, ladies 70 years old or older, was a wonderful soul inspiring event. Over sixty ladies were in attendance, twenty were our honored guest.

Our honored guest were greeted with the pinning of a beautiful red rose corsage. They then took their place at a table draped with a white linen tablecloth that cascaded to the floor. The place setting was of the finest china furnished from the homes of our younger ladies. The teacups set ready for the wonderful event to follow.

The program began as the Tea Lady, Mrs. Brenda Rowell, all dressed for the part, set the scene with her reflections on the art of taking tea. A time to be still and enjoyed with someone special.

The ladies were served a hot cup of Rooibos Creme Caramel tea with scones and faux devonshire creme or lemon curd. Next came Chicken Salad on a Croissant with a side of Grape Salad. Then came the tiers of assorted muffins, finger sandwiches, and tea time sweets.

As the ladies enjoyed their tea time, they were serenaded with beautiful instrumental music by the Borton ladies.

At the close of teatime, Mrs. Peggy Carroll, sang a song especially dedicated to our senior saints entitled, "I Saw Jesus in You."

Our honored guest were presented with a special framed verse and a booklet compiled with notes of gratitude to our senior saints reflecting on the impact that their lives have had on others.

The Tea ended as all the ladies joined in singing "Thank You, Jesus...for all you done."

This day will be remembered by young and old as one of the most memorable ladies event.

A Giving Christmas Gathering

Thank you to Joy Morgan, Amy Miller, Carole Garbutt, Gwen Griffin, and Sandy Stokes for the wonderful ladies Christmas gathering.

It was an exciting evening of fellowship celebrating the true meaning of Christmas. This year the ladies recognized missionaries Carolyn Sanders and Beverly Simpson with a special love offering of over $600. The hightlight of the evening was contacting the missionaries via phone in Peurto Rico. Caroly and Beverly were wished a Merry Christmas and the ladies assured them of their on-going prayers for them.

Delicious food, special music and drama and wonderful fellowship was enjoyed by all.

We had a wonderful Ladies Night Out on November 11. Close to 60 ladies came and enjoyed a variety of crock pot dishes.

Then Pat Palmer shared her cooking secrets for stuffed porkchop, sweet potato suffle, and pecan pie. The greatest help to all was having a kitchen expert such as Pat answer the audience's questions.

Don't miss Sunday school on September 12! All ladies, College/Career through Adult IV will meet in the Fellowship Hall for an exciting time as we kickoff a new year in our Ladies Ministry. There are some new things planned for this year as we continue to grow in our inreach and outreach to others. All BBC ladies are asked to be thinking of how you would like to be involved in the ladies ministry for this coming year. There is a place for all!

Light refreshments will be served and kickoff will be at 9:15 a.m. See you there!

Follow Up:

Kickoff Sunday was an exciting time as we reviewed the past year and look forward to the coming year in Ladies Ministry. Our pastor's wife, Deborah Blanton, presented us with the Game Plan in that we must strive to work together as a team in order to see much accomplished for the Lord through the Ladies Ministry. Peggy Carroll, the Prayer Partner Coordinator, presented the opportunity to the ladies to be a part of the prayer partner ministry. Then Christine Rossiter presented the Offense and Defense Strategy for the Ladies Ministry this year which is to grow in the Lord through the study of the Word. The ladies were invited to join the Tuesday morning Bible Study to be held on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month.

The Kickoff was a time of fun, fellowship and food but most it was a time to encourage one another to be faithful to the Lord through pray, Bible Study, outreach and service.

Our special speaker will be Mrs. Pam Fox, wife of Tony Fox - missionaries reaching Asia for Christ. Many of you remember Pam when she and her family were members of our church during her teen and college years. You will enjoy hearing Pam’s testimony and about God’s call on her life.

Our emphasis that night will be on our missionaries. How much do you actually know about our missionaries? Well, we will find out as we divide up into two teams playing the game Jeopardy, using facts about our missionaries. You might want to review our missionaries’ prayer cards and emails before you come.

Please remember to bring a salad, sandwiches, or sweets.

Follow up:
It was a blessing to hear Pam Fox give her testimony. One of the key verses that Pam referred to was Proverbs 16:9 "A man's heart deviseth (plans) his way: but the LORD directeth his steps." As she said, we may all have our own plans for our life and our children's lives but may we willingly yield to the Lord as He directs our steps, even when they may not be in our plans.

The game of Jeopardy was great! A special thanks goes to Mrs. Luisa (Alexandria:}) Schmutzler for compiling the facts about our missionaries for the game and being the MC. The facts were very interesting and the ladies did great as a team coming up with the answers. Also, a special thanks to Michelle Jarrell with her expertise we were able to go TECHNO by setting the game up in PowerPoint form.

Thank you to Solange and all the ladies that assisted her with the food setup and cleanup. It was a blessing to see so many ladies serving and having a great time of fellowship in the process.

Morning for Moms 2010

"Home on Paradise Island"

We set new records this year at Morning for Moms with over 55 ladies in attendance throughout the week.

While VBS was going on for the children, Moms (young and old) gathered together to study God's Word. Our theme this year was Home on Paradise Island. The topic for the week was how to biblically develop the relationships in our lives (i.e. God, husband, children, adult children). Also, each day we had a activity workshop that gave us great ideas and helpful information with our calling as mothers.

On Friday, we ended the week with a delicious luncheon.

Thank you to all the ladies of BBC that enabled this ministry to be a blessing to so many in our community.

Footprints in the Sand that we leave for our children to follow.

Thanks again for another great year of VBS and Morning for Moms! I brought a friend to Morning for Moms this year and she was really impressed! The Bible lessons are encouraging, the enrichment lessons are interesting and helpful, and the food is just a bonus! (especially since we don't have to share with the kids).

We really enjoy the week of VBS. It seems so organized (loved the on-line registration) and I know it is a ton of work! Thanks for your commitment to reach our kids for Christ! ~With love, Angela Knox

End of Year Luncheon

The ladies had a wonderful year studying God's Word together. Average attendance was around twenty. A special thank you to the teachers: Mrs. Bobbie Ashmore, Mrs. Kristen Drinnon, Mrs. Christine Rossiter and Mrs. Bonnie Trimble.

As the ladies gathered for Bible Study we were most grateful for an active childcare program under the care of Mrs. Cindy Rhidress and Mrs. Athena Schwantes. Thank you ladies for your faithful service.

On Tuesday, May 11, to end the year, we had a wonderful luncheon at the home of Amiee Fleming. Amiee was a most gracious hostess and the food and fellowship was a delight.

Our 2010/2011 Bible Study is set to begin on Tuesday, October 5. Please come and join us as we fellowship as ladies studying the truths of God's Word.

Over 250 women, representing 50 churches from Alabama, Georgia, Florida, and South Carolina, enjoyed the stunning decorations at Heart to Heart 2010. At the March 13 event, featured speaker Faith Taylor of Greenville, South Carolina, challenged the ladies to keep teachable hearts which starts with true humility.

The Ladies Ministry did a wonderful job of organizing the church sponsored community outreach Wild West Family Fest. A special thanks goes to Sherri Carter and Kristin Davis for coordinating the event. It was an evening filled with fun for the entire family, including grandmas and grandpas. There were around 500 in attendance.

The Senior Class of BBCS the provided the concession goods as a fundraiser. The hot bowl of chili certainly hit the spot on the cool fall evening. The Junior Class of BBCS provided a great assortment of sweet treats as a fundraiser. The cotton candy was a great treat for the young ones and old ones alike. The food was delicious and the service was great. Thank you young people!

The Ladies Ministry Kickoff Sunday was indeed a success. Thank you to all the ladies that came early last Sunday for our Ladies Ministry kickoff meeting. The response was great:

*Over 40 ladies turned in their questionnaire saying they wanted to be involved and serve in different areas. We hope to see all these ladies and more serving this coming year.

*Seventeen ladies responded saying that they wanted to be a part of the Praying Moms program. Lisa is getting all the details together and will contact you all with the date and time.

*Nineteen ladies signed up for the Ladies Bible Study to began Tuesday, October 6 at 10 a.m.

*Twenty-five ladies have already volunteered to help with the Wild West Family Fest, some even voluteered their husbands.

This is a great start to our new year of Ladies Ministry. If you have not filled out a form, please do so. There are extra forms on the Ladies Ministry table. You may fill out the form and place it in the TREASURE BOX on the table.

A special thank you to: Mrs. Paula Davis that did a wonderful job in setting up for the event and preparing the food; Mrs. Dinah Beck that helped with the cleanup and setup; Mrs. Judy Bagwell that prepared the bookmarks; and to all the other ladies on the program.

Ladies' Morning Bible Study

The Ladies' Morning Bible Study will begin Tuesday, October 6.

The Bible study will be conducted on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month. This year there will be two exciting classes of study offered:

This year’s retreat was a very special time with our theme being “Getting to Know You.” The retreat was set aside as a time for the ladies of BBC to be ministered to and encouraged by one another. Each of our pastoral staff wives shared a special testimony of God’s direction in their life. Skits and games helped us get to know one another in a fun sort of way. There was even a quiz to see how much we really do know about the ladies in our church.

MISSIONS FOR CHILDREN

TOP PRIORITY GIVEN TO CHILDREN

Our annual Mission's Conference was held Sunday, September 20 through Wednesday, September 23. This year a special emphasis was directed toward our children from ages 4 through 4th grade. Each night while the adults were hearing the keynote speaker, Dr. Bob Shelton, a different missionary would visit the children and tell of life in the country God had called them to.

Each child was given a Top Priority Assignment folder
that told important facts of the countries.

For each night the children attended they received
a sticker flag of the country.

The children really enjoyed their adventures around the world
through the eyes of the missionaries.

Miss Beth, missionary to Central Asia, modeled the outfit
she would wear as she went out amongst the people.

This outfit is called a burqa. You have to look through a hole
that is covered with mesh material so no one can see a ladies' face.

On Wednesday night Mrs. Roberts told of a Welsh girl name Ann that ask Jesus to come into her heart. Ann wanted a Bible of her very own so she saved up her money for a long time and then walk 25 miles to buy a Bible.

Mr. Roberts shared some funny things about how words in America mean something totally different in Wales. He said, "If you ask for a napkin in Wales they will give you a diaper."

Mrs. Black prepared a different snack for the children each night that represented food from the different countries. The children were treated with the most interesting snack on Sunday night-- Lentils and Rice in a small cup. The appearance of the snack was soupy brown with lumps. Many children were adventurous and drank the unusual snack from Central Asia. Monday was Brazil nuts; Tuesday was crackers with guave pasta and cheddar cheese for Uruguay; and Wednesday was the children's favorite Irish Potato Candy for Ireland.

The children found that the Irish Potato Candy was "finger licking good." It was made with potatoes that was mixed with a pound of sugar and had a center of peanut butter.

Mrs. Black taught the children songs pertaining to missions.

On Wednesday night, the children treated the adults with
the singing of the songs that they had learned throughout the week.

The choir was enthusiastic about singing of the need for all of us
to be a missionary for Christ everyday.

A special thank you goes to Mrs. Black, the Missions Committee and all the helpers for the week. This is a Missions Conference that the children will not soon foget.

Missionary Luncheon

Christine Rossiter and her team of ladies hosted a luncheon in royal style that was indeed fit for "daughters of the King." The tables were beautifully decorated and the food was plenteous and delicious. Each missionary lady was presented a beautiful tote bag filled with items for travel.

While the setting was most desirable, the most exciting part of the luncheon took place as the missionaries shared their hearts. They shared their call to the mission field and the burden that God had placed on their hearts. All are serving in different countries, the time of their call was different, their age in life and status is all different but the one constant that they all had in common was "the call was sure and the burden is great."

Many of our ladies were at the luncheon and the 7-12 grades girls from Bible Baptist Christian School joined us for the testimony time of the missionaries. One of our missionaries, Miss Tiffany Stokes, commented, "Girls, just a few years ago I was sitting as you are with my BBCS school uniform on and wondering what would the Lord have me do." The words spoken was a challenge and a blessing for old and young alike.

Beth G. (R) was a guess in the home of Kristen Drinnon (L). A real friendship has bonded throughout the week with late night talks about God's call on Beth's life to minister to the women of Central Asia. Beth will be in the country as a registered nurse. As she ministers to the physical needs of the women, Beth's pray is that she will also be able to minister to the greater need of knowing Christ as their Savior. Beth plans to leave for the field in October 2009. Her prayer requests are: for all the details of visa be worked out; that she would have Central Asian friend and a Western friend while on the mission field; and most of all that the Word of God would go forward.

Esther Lockhart literally has her hands full as a young mother of three. The youngest is just 5 weeks old. Esther and her husband Jeremy hope to be on the field in Brazil within the next few months. Her prayer requests are: that she might have the ability to learn the Portugese language; for her adjustment to a new cultural; and that she might be the helpmeet to her husband that the Lord desires.

An interesting side note: Jeremy and his family attended Bible Baptist Church for most of his childhood and attended BBCS. He says he first felt the call to Brazil when he was in the 5th grade at BBCS. It is always wonderful to see one of our own called into full-time service.

Rachel Roberts and her husband Joshua will be leaving to minister in the country of Wales. Rachel's testimony emphasized the faithfulness of God throughout her life as a preacher's kid and now as a missionary. Rachel holds 14 months old William and is expecting little Ann in December. Her prayer requests are: that she may live for others and have safety in delivery of Ann.

Ruth Perez, her husband Archie and their four children minister in the country of Uruguay. Ruth is a native of Uruguay. In her testimony, Ruth told of how a missionary came to Uruguay many years ago and told her grandparents of Christ. Her grandparents were saved and the gospel spread throughout the generations. Ruth's family was the only Christians she knew out of thousands of citizens of the country. Ruth came to the states via a scholarship to study at Pillsbury Bible College. After marrying Archie they made a visit to her homeland and Archie felt the call to return to Uruguay to spread the gospel throughout this mostly atheistic country.

Tiffany Stokes, a member of Bible Baptist Church, has been serving as a short-term missionary to Papua New Guinea. Tiffany has been teaching the native children in the lower elementary classes. She tells of students that are much older than their grade level. One reason is that they have no birth certificates to officially determine their birthdate. Tiffany was also active in helping with many youth activities in the church in Papua New Guinea.

Global Warming

The Global Warming fellowship truly warmed the hearts of all in attendance. The fellowship around the table was wonderful. As we took time to pray for some special needs of our missionaries, you could feel the blending of hearts together as we approach the throne of God with our petitions.

Karen so graciously reminded us all just how great our God is and how wonderful He is to direct our steps to ministries and opportunities that we cannot even fathom if we are only willing to be used of Him. She shared that she had to totally place her trust in God to accomplish what He had called her to. The verse that she clinged to was Hebrews 13:5 ...I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.

The church family gave tremendously to the needs of our missionaries.
This trunk was refilled over and over as the items kept coming in each Sunday.

It was great to have our missionary Miss Tiffany Stokes (second from L)
back from Paupa New Guinea.

Mrs. Peggy Carroll shared some interesting facts about
the song time of our Japanese brothers and sisters in Christ.
We joined our hearts together in song as we sung two of the
favorite hymns of the Japanese.

Natalie and Heather seem to be enjoying their night away from the children.

Morning for Moms 7/13-17/09

“Home on the Range: Where children learn to love, honor and obey.”

We had record attendance in Morning for Moms this year with around 20 visiting moms joining us for the Bible Study “Home on the Range: Where children learn to love, honor and obey.” Mrs. Bonnie Trimble was the facilitator for the Bible Study.

Throughout the week there were activity classes:

Nourishing Your Child’s Heart through Reading & Music, presented by Dinah Beck and Vicki Petersen
Thriftiness in Your Purchasing Power, presented by Michelle Jarrell
Picture Perfect Window, presented by Kristen Lee
Hidden Treasures: Decor for the Home, presented by Deborah Berry

Each morning began with a time of fellowship with wonderful refreshments that were coordinated by Amy Miller. A special thank you to all the ladies that prepared the morning refreshments.

Carrying out the Western theme of the 2009 Vacation Bible School, the mothers were treated on Friday to a Western style meal with all the fixin's. It was a great week spent together as ladies looking into God’s Word to see the importance of being the moms God called us to be, while our children were being ministered to in VBS.

~Ephesians 6:4 And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath:
but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.

The poster put out the call for MOMS, and they responded.

The ladies gather together on Friday for one last time
of fellowship over a western style lunch.

Ladies enjoyed barbecue with all the fixings. To top off the meal,
dessert included some delicious Mrs. Edward's Pies
donated by Mike Carter.

Ladies' Night Out
S.O.S. (Sisters Only Supper) – 6/11/09

There was a lot of fun playing off of the S.O.S. theme. The menu was Salads Or Sandwiches and Sweets Or Soda. Game time was hosted by Terri English, with co-host Paula Davis, as we played Sister Opposing Sister.

The ladies were also challenged with Special Opportunities for Service as we talked about launching our new Ladies Ministry program. We ended the evening Sharing Our Souls as ladies in what the Ladies Ministry had meant to them in the past. ~John 13:34

The theme was nautical as we discussed ways to
set sail into a new ladies ministry.

We were honored to have many of our
Adult IV ladies in attendance.

2009 Eleventh Annual Heart to Heart Ladies’ Conference

A Servant’s Heart 3/14/09

Our guest speaker for the ladies conference was Mrs. Linda Phelps, wife of Dr. Charles “Chuck” Phelps. Mrs. Phelps spoke on the great need to guard our hearts with spiritual truths and the importance of having a contented heart in the Lord.

The ladies of BBC offered nine workshops at the conference. The oriental decorating theme honored our missionaries serving in the orient. Around 250 ladies from over 50 churches attended. ~Matthew 24:46

Letters from Home …A Patriotic Christmas – 11/6/08

On November 6, the ladies of Bible Baptist gathered to remember the men and women that have served and are presently serving in our military. In the weeks leading up to the meeting, the church gathered items to ship to military personnel listed on our church's prayer list. Over a dozen boxes of goodies, toiletries, and notes of gratitude were shipped to those serving in Iraq, Afghanistan, and the States.
